All questions →Matcha is finely ground green tea powder from Japan. Unlike regular tea, where you only drink an extract, with matcha you consume the entire leaf.
Yes — like all green teas, matcha naturally contains caffeine. One serving (~2g) has 60–70mg of caffeine. Matcha also contains L-theanine, an amino acid naturally found in tea leaves.
Add 2g of matcha to a bowl. Pour 70–80°C water (not boiling) over the matcha. Whisk with a bamboo chasen in brisk Z-motions until a fine foam forms without lumps. Add milk of your choice.
